Battery hens are meant to feed and get fat 'quickly' to feed humans. The sweet old rhyme '9,10 a nice fat hen' no longer applies, the numbers refer to battery numbers where hens are cooped in tiny cells with lights on all the time to get them to lay faster. This hen is a porcelain one, she is almost dead. But thanks to her friends over in the field she is coming to life and is growing her wings to escape and join them as they freerange in the country on green grass. Someone cut the fence to free her...
